10 Steps to making this your best year ever!

Here are some steps that I believe if you follow and complete them you will have a record year better than any past year.

New Year, New Possibilities

First, I’d like to say Happy New Year and congratulations for making it to 2017 I’m sure you have had many ups and downs from last year but the good thing is that your here now. Many people get into the habit of saying “New Year, New me” there’s nothing wrong with the saying but many people just say this instead of committing to it and putting into action. You have the power to make this year better than any other year you’ve ever had, it’s a new year you have new and unlimited possibilities. But to imagine what's possible, you need to first overcome your limiting beliefs. What are the limiting beliefs that are holding you back?

1. Ask yourself?

To make this year your best yet, there some questions you really need ask yourself some question. What do you want to achieve this year? Why do you want to achieve it? Is it financial goals (a certain amount of money you want to make this year), do you want to lose weight or live a healthier lifestyle, do you want to progress in your career? Ask yourself What would this change in your life if you were to achieve it? Would you be happier, more successful, healthier, or more financially stable? Then ask yourself who would this impact if you were to achieve this? Would it be your spouse or partner, family, kids, friends.

2. Write down your goals

Many people have goals and make resolutions every year but few people write them down. Only 3 out 100 write down their goals whereas 97 don’t, people with written goals are 50% more likely to achieve them than those who do not and sharing your goals with others increases your chance of achieving it. The power of goal setting and writing down goals is overlooked by many, when you write down a goal you are making a statement to yourself and that goal. Written goals remind us what we want to achieve so that we keep going until we achieve it this hold us accountable and committed to achieving that goal. From the questions in the previous step you should have an idea of what your goals are so write them down.

3. Put last year behind you

We are in 2017, 2016 is gone so whatever happened last year or the previous years is in the past. One of the biggest reasons that people fail is that they are still holding on to the past and previous year. Holding on to your past is like having a heavy stone attached to your leg it holds you back, to go to new heights you must learn to accept the past and put behind you. Don’t use it as an excuse but allow it to push you forward and towards success.

4. Make a plan

This the formula and the tool that will allow you to bring everything together start making progress. You don’t need to make a world domination plan but all you need to do is make your own steps to how you going to achieve your goals this year. You can set out your plan monthly from now till the end of the year and write down all the things you need to do to achieve it. Keep your plan simple but don’t limit yourself think big but start small and you will see things start to grow.

5. Surround yourself with positive people

One key tip for success is to have the right people around because the people you have around you the most will determine the kind of person you become. It's important to surround yourself with positive people it could be people that you look up to, people that inspire you and people that encourage you to do well, these groups of people will support you and push you towards success. Like-minded people are the best people to talk to about your interests or hobbies because they will most likely have a lot in common with you. You should get involved in as many things as you can such as a social clubs, groups, and workshops because you will meet new people, learn new skills and information you can use to further in your career. I believe that you only the right individuals in your life for you to go to a completely new level so always look for opportunities to meet new people who you can learn from.

6. Avoid negative people

As well as positive people, there’s also negative people and these are the people you should stay away from because they will not always have a good effect on you. I believe that there’s two types of people in the world snakes & ladders, just like the board game the ladders will take you up and the snakes will take you back down. So, it is important to be aware of these kinds of people and distance yourself from them and one of the reasons people are negative especially when it comes to your career choice or starting something new. Don’t let negative energy throw you off, let it drive you to succeed and prove those people wrong. If you don’t cut out negative people in your life you may find that you become one so act fast and save yourself.

7. Avoid distractions

Distractions are another reason many people fail achieving their goals. What are your biggest distractions? Is it your mobile phone? do you go out too often? are you constantly on social media instead of studying or working? Are you constantly glued to the TV and waiting for your favourite programmes to come on? Do you find yourself constantly on the internet? or is people around you that distract you? I believe that if something isn’t benefiting you or allowing you to improve on what you doing, then really and truly you should avoid it because it’s not doing you any good. Don’t get me wrong it doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t do any of it, but you should either reduce or control it.

8. Stay Healthy

As well as making this year your best year ever don’t forget about your health because your health is ultimately what keeps you alive. If one of your goals is to lose weight this year then exercise, join a gym, or get a personal trainer. We all get those moments when we can’t be bothered doing anything but those are the moments that you should be most active because it will change your whole mood, don’t let excuses comfort you because you will find yourself backsliding. If eating healthier is one of your goals, then you should try eat healthy food as often as you can. It doesn’t mean say goodbye to that cheeky take away or maccies (McDonalds) it’s okay to treat yourself from time to time but don’t make it habit, limit yourself.

9. Search for new opportunities

Be always on a look out for opportunities because this is what will take you to where you want to be. Opportunities come in all shapes and sizes and some come disguised so you may not think it’s an opportunity that will benefit you but do it anyway because you will never know where that it can lead unless you give it a go. Nothing is more expensive than a missed opportunity so don’t overthink things just do it. There could be a competition that’s running but you may not think that you can win just enter, it’s better to fail trying than failing without even trying. An opportunity could be a new job, new venture, project, or a new relationship (personal or professional), if you are looking for a specific opportunity and it doesn’t exist go out and create it. There are never any shortages of opportunity there is only shortages of effort.

10. Take Action

This is the final and most important step in this post, ACTION has the word ACT in it which stands for (Action Changes Things). It’s okay saying that year will be your best but if you don’t put that into action then you are only cheating yourself, commit yourself to taking action and doing all the things that you said you would do even if you don’t feel like it because the results you will have are more than worth it. I believe that you can do anything you set your mind to, but like the NIKE brand “Just Do It”, don’t doubt yourself. Action will take you out of doubt and doubt will take you of action, so don’t let anything hold you back this year. Let’s make a mark in 2017 and make it our best year ever, good luck and thank you for reading this blog.
