6 Simple Steps To Taking Action
In this blog, I have laid out my 6 simple steps to taking action because I believe it is one of the most important ingredient for success. I have simplified these steps so that they are easy to follow and easy to read.

What is Action ?
Action is the formula to making everything work because without action nothing will progress or move forward. The word action means “the fact or process of doing something typically to achieve an aim” The definition is quite self-explanatory but one keyword that stands out is aim, you need to plan your actions and in your plan, you need to have an aim, what are you trying to achieve, what is your target? what results do you want. Taking action without aim is like shooting without a target it doesn’t make sense, if you don’t know what your aiming for then you don’t have a purpose or goal so it makes everything seem pointless.
Aim – You need to have an aim before you take action because this is what will remind you of what you are trying to achieve. An aim gives us purpose in life and keeps us going in the right direction. A common mistake many people make is setting aims low and setting aims based on what they think they can achieve, this can create limitations and makes us think that we are not capable of doing more. You should always set your aims high because it pushes you to go further and even if you fell short you would still be better off than if set a lower aim. Ask yourself what are your aims for this year? where do you want to be in 3 – 5 years’ time? write down all your aims, then set a plan to achieve them.
Commit - The next step to action is to commit, you must make a commitment to your aim, dedicate yourself to it and keep going no matter what obstacles you may face. There may be difficulties but commitment tests whether you can withstand the storm before the sunshine comes meaning have you got the resilience and loyalty to go through the bad before you can get the good. Commitment teach us to be patient because most things don’t happen overnight and some things take time. But if you stay committed long enough then eventually you will have or reach what you aimed for.
Trust – Trust is key step to taking action because you need to trust that you have what it takes to reach your goal and you need have a firm belief that only you can do it and the only thing stopping you from reaching success is yourself. If there is someone you look up to and you are trying to get where they are, all you need to do is follow and trust in the same process that they did and you will have the same results. Once you trust in the process you will start to move forward and others will start to trust in you this will eliminate any doubt or uncertainty within you.
Invest – You to understand that investment is essential to getting the best results from your action. Investment doesn’t have to be mean money or funding but you need to invest in yourself before anyone can invest in you. You need to invest time and effort to get the best results. Reading books is a good way to invest in yourself especially if they are based on topics that you’re interested in because it is new knowledge information that you can use. You can also listen to audiobooks, podcasts or watch videos. Anything that adds to your knowledge or experience is a good investment for yourself, if something requires money and you believe it can work then do it because it is still beneficial to you.
Operate – The next step to operate by doing what you said you would do. To operate you need to take control and responsibility because it is down to you to make it work and you have the power to make it work. Even if things go wrong don’t blame anyone take full responsibility because then you have the power to change things instead of relying on others. A big aim is made up of smaller aims, so set yourself tasks and objectives, each time you complete a task you will be getting closer to your overall aim.
Now – To take serious action you need to have a NOW mentality, for me NOW stands for No Other Way and No Opportunity Wasted. Don’t wait for things to happen or for someone to come do it for you, because no one will come and make your dreams a reality but yourself. Don’t leave things until tomorrow or another day because things can change and you will end procrastinating to the point that no action is taken. If you develop a NOW mentality and do things straight away instead of procrastinating, you will get things done much quicker and get better results. To really become really successful at something you need to become obsessed with it, you need to live and breathe what you do because it will show from your passion, making it clear and self-explanatory to others. What you say and what you do need to be in line with each other so that it is clear to see through the actions you take and progress you make. When we are obsessed with something (e.g. chocolate) we normally can’t stop thinking about it, we crave it and we do whatever is necessary to have it. If your obsession is your dream, it is constantly on your mind and you treat it the same as any other obsession, eventually you will have it.
